It was a super nice summer this year. We were able to spend a lot of time visiting friends and family. I was able to go on a six week break from treatments, because the side effects were getting bad. I had developed neuropathy at the end, and I was having a lot of issues w/ my nails. I fully expected to be put on another chemotherapy at that point, but the doc. Thought that things were stable enough to continue the break. I continued to get the Avastin that I had been given all winter.
Almost three weeks ago, I started having some crazy symptoms. I was having trouble urinating, and I was getting really bloated. The bloating then made me short of breath. On top of that, I suddenly was experiencing extreme, extreme fatigue. I also noticed a bit of a yellow tint to my eyes. My doc thought for sure that I was dealing w/ something urinary tract related, but my blood work showed otherwise.
It was definitely my liver acting up. I am so bloated right now that I'm having trouble finding clothes to wear. I don't know if I want to buy maternity pants or something LOL!!!
I went to Indiana University to see if they had anything that would work for me, but Dr. Newton only had one trial that would work for me with the state my liver is in. She also suggested Navelbine chemotherapy as it can be given in low doses with the least side effects. She was very honest with us about how serious this is. We really need the cancer to regress, even though it is not very big. And we need the chemotherapy to work on my liver function to get the bloating down, so I can be comfortable again
Right now, I don't have enough fluid to drain it off my abdomen, but that is something they can do in the future if it worsens.
Thank you for any prayers sent our way. This has been a difficult time for all of us.
